Volunteers wanted (aged 65 years and above)
A research study is being undertaken at Victoria University, entitled “Sensors and Actuators: A New Approach to Falls Prevention in Older Adults”, by Prof. Rezaul Begg, Dr Daniel Lai and Ms Braveena Santhiranayagam. The study focuses on the feasibility of using a shoe‐mounted sensor system for detecting tripping risks during walking in older adults. We are looking for healthy male and female volunteers to take part in the walking experiment.
The study requires:
• Healthy adults aged 65 and above
• Willing to walk on a treadmill for 15-20 mins and overground for 5 – 10 mins.
• Have not experienced any falls in the past 2 years
In return we offer you:
• A personalized report on your foot movement and risk of fall
• A return taxi fare or transportation
• Light refreshments
The program takes place at: Victoria University, Footscray Park Campus, Corner of Ballarat Road and Princess Hwy, Footscray, VIC 3011.
