Short Story Competition 2011

The 2011 Fifty-Plus News Short Story Competition is now open!

This year we invite entrants to write a ‘Memoir’, a reminiscence of aspects of your early life that you might like to share with your grandchildren or any member of the younger generation.

Your entry might be in the form of a short story — a fictionalisation of your early life experience — or as a first person account, but it should reveal real experiences from your youth and the world in which you grew up.

The word limit is once again the challenging 750 words, so this is not an invitation to write a comprehensive autobiography; the theme is ‘Memoir’; a short account of something memorable in your life.

Entry forms with other competition rules will be published in each issue until December. The closing date is 31 December 2011.

Happy writing!
